The Computer Science Department being headed by Smt. T.Anuradha M.Sc.,M.S.(Pilani),(Ph.D), believes that "Applied Knowledge is Power" and has been providing the students with the latest Hardware and Software resources. The JKC Computer Science Labs have one of the Finest Computing Environments, with a large number of Desktops, world class Servers with Local Area Network and access to High Speed Internet (BROADBAND). LCD PROJECTOR is being used as Teaching-Aid. Handicam is being used to record student activities(seminars etc) and provide the student with a copy to review his/her presentation skills. The Computer Labs are available to students from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. It represents the major attraction of J.K.C College.


The Computer centre is spaciously housed in a total area of 2350 Sq.ft. It is two storied, air conditioned, centrally located and functionally designed building. It is equipped with the State-of-the-art computing resources worth above Rs.1.5 Crore to cater the academic activities of the institute. JKCC's Computing infrastructure offers a truly heterogeneous range of Hardware and Software platforms for the students to appreciate and gain wide-ranging experience.



The Institute has Five Network Servers and 200 P.C's operating on a variety of Windows 2000 server, Windows NT, Windows XP, 98, Sco Unix and Linux [ Red Hat ] platforms . All the nodes are running on Windows XP/98 platforms with other latest Software.

The Department of Mathematics started its functioning in the year 1968 with the appointment of Sri A.Nomula Rao and Sri.B.Subba Rao as lecturers.

The department was expanded in 1969 with the appointment of Mr.K.Seshagiri Rao and Mr. P.S Shankar Rao. Later to meet the growing demand for Mathematics Mr. T.Adinarayana Sharma is taken into the department in 1970 and he left the college to join in Government service in 1972. The introduction of new groups with mathematics combination arouse the need to recruit more hands.There by Mr.Sk.Hussain and Mr.P.V.Subba Rao were taken into the department.In 1973 Mr Sk.Hussain left the college seeking government service. In 1974 Mr. P.V Subba Rao follwed suite.Mr K. Seshagiri Rao left to USA for higher studies and Mr K. Chandra Sekhara Rao was taken in his vacancy.

In 1987,Mr K.Chandra Sekhara Rao left the college to join in an Engineering college.The vacancy was filled with Mr G.Sambasiva Rao. In 1988 Mr V.V.V Prasad was taken into the department.

Self finance courses like Computer Science and Electronics with maths combination were introduced in 1989.This led to rapid expansion of the department. In 1990 Mrs L.Achala and Mr P.Ramamohan Rao were appointed. Mr G.Srinivasa Rao was appointed to teach Statistics. Mr V.V.V Prasad left the college for government service in the end of 1990.Mr Y Siva Rama Krishna was absorbed into the department at that time.

In 1991 Mr R.Srinivasa Rao for Maths and Mr Raghu for Statistics were taken into the department.Mr K.Krishna Rao served as a lecturer for 3 months in leave vacancy.The department members were happy to know Mrs L.Achala got M.Phil degree from Gujarat University(Ahmedabad). In between these years when R.V.R.& J.C. College Of Engineering was in our campus, the members of the department taught Maths to their students for sometime and won the appreciation of the students and management.

In 1993 the Head of the department Mr A.Nomula Rao was promoted as Principal.We are proud to inform you that Mr A.Nomula Rao has been the Chairman of the Board of Studies of N.U in Statistics since 1992.He was also the co-ordinator of A.P open University study center which is on our campus from 1983-1987.

Mr.K.Sambasiva Rao was taken into the department as a lecturer in 1993. To improve the skills of the students in Mathematics N.U has introduced problem solving sessions in I degree in 1993.This concept has provided the chance to expand the department again.Mr K.Krishna Rao was added into the department in 1993 and Mr K.Rama Krishna in 1994.Mr.K.Krishna Rao left the college in 1995 as he seeked the job in PG center Ongole.Problem solving sessions continued next year and Mr N.Nageswara Rao Joined in the department in 1995.

The efforts put in by the members of the department during the problem solving sessions improved the results extra ordinarily in these years.

Mr G.Sambasiva Rao left the college in March 1996.Also Mr Y.Siva Rama Krishna acquired job in AP residential school and left the college in July 1996.Mr.K.Subba Rao joined in 1996 July. The members of the department Mrs L.Achala was admitted into grant-in-aid in 1998.The next two members Mr P.Rama Mohana Rao and Mr R.Srinivasa Rao were admitted into grant-in-aid in 1999 and 2000 respectively.A new member Mr.A.Shyam Prasad joined in the department in the year 1999.Mr N.Nageswara Rao left to USA to seek his future in computer field in 2000.The second member of senior trio Mr P.S.Shankar Rao retired in June 2000.Mrs Y.Anitha Kumari and Mrs Y Anuradha joined the department later in 2000.

The sole senior member of the department Mr B.Subba Rao retired in February 2002.We are happy to inform you that he was not only the member in our department he also served the college as N.C.C officer.He was commissioned in 1970 and was promoted second in command of 25(A) Bettalian from 1982.

In 1982 Major B. Subba Rao adjudged as all round best officer.He also served as college staff representative in 1992. Mrs M.Sridevi worked in the department as a part time lecturer in acadamic year 2002-2003

As the College has huge number of maths students, To create the interest in maths and to enlighten the intelligence with in the students the department conducted a quiz in mathematics and statistics in december 2002 with the coordination of the college COSSHIP division. we are particularly happy and proud to have a number of our former students as lecturers in the department

BRIEF APPRAISAL OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of English was started in 1^st August, 1968.The English department of J.K.C College is the largest department with 14 U.G and 5 P.G. staff members. It has a glorious history of three and a half-decades. The department has carved a niche in the annuals of J.K.C College. The first three Principals, Sri Y.Rosayya,Dr.S.Anantham and Dr.C.N.Sastry who were eminent and famous scholars, belonged to this department. Dessiminating their knowledge and dedication, the senior members of the department contributed their best in laying firm foundation of discipline and high academic standards. The printed study material prepared by the members of the department has helped in improving the quality of education and results. The department has eight alumni of J.K.C college working as lecturers, who have been rendering their services with loving care, affection and commitment to the institution and the department.

The department has been taking keen interest in imparting language skills,Spoken English and Personality Development techniques by conducting various training programmes from time to time for the students of both U.G classes and P.G classes throughout the academic year. The dartment has been utilizing the invaluable services of the experienced lecturers likeDr.L.Radhakrishna Murthy,Sri P.Satyanarayana,Sri Y.RamaBramham, whose contribution has been indispensible over the years at the P.G level. The members of Department of the English are active participants in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities like Quiz,Elocution,Music and Drama. Six members of English Department are in-charge of different committees as vice-chairmen Dr.N.Nageswara Rao is the co-ordinator for Andhra University Distance Education and Sri P.Gopichand is the regional co-ordinator for Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Regional Centre, J.K.C College, GUNTUR .

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ACHIEVEMENTS

• The First three Principals of our college were from the Depatment of English.
  • Our Founder-Principal Sri Y.Rosayya , was a Profound scholar in English and Telugu; J.K.C.College Library and Reading room complex bear his name, was responsible for building up a rich collection of classics in our library.
  • Dr.S.Anantham , recieved his Ph.D. in Education from Michigan University,the U.S.A., was a renouned resource person for education and phonetics. He gave many talks over the radio.
  • Dr.C.N.Sastry popularly known as 'Amarendra',was a versatile literateur, Poet in English and Telugu, Short-story writer, Orator and translator for excellence.
• In Collaboration with the department of Oriental Languages, the English Department organized a Training programme for college teachers in Liguistics and culture from 26.12.2000 to 17.1.2001. Which was sponsored by the Commissionarate of Education and A.P.S.C.Council of Higher Education.
• A 43-day programme of Functional English Classes was organized by the Department of English as part of COHSSIP from 9.11.2001 to 21.12.2001. The members of English Department taught Communication Skills, Spoken English,Idioms,Phrasal verbs,Writing patterns,grammer,Phonetics etc. Slides and transperencies were used to make teaching effective.
• The Department of English Organized a number of guest lectures and seminars of eminent professors and scholars from various other universities for the benifit of our P.G & U.G. students.
• The Department has been publishing potes on prescribed texts and grammer for years,a unique feature Private Aided Colleges and no.of students on the campus and others have been benifited.
• Dr.N.Nageswara Rao is the Assistant Co-Ordinator of Andhra University Distance Education Centre on our campus.
• Sri P.Gopichand is the Regional Co-Ordinator for Dr B.R.Ambedkar Open University,J.K.C.Centre, on our campus.
• Sri G.Amma Rao got a letter of appreciation from Miss A.E.Watson,Editor of OALDCE Unit, Oxford University Press,London for pointing out a number of errors and misprints in the Oxford Dictionary.
